There is most likely no other place in the states that offers the beauty and diversity of back country roads that rivals the Texas Hill Country. Central Texas driving enthusiasts here have an incredible selection of roads to explore, many well maintained yet remote and sparsely traveled.
Each month we will highlight one of these routes in this pages. This month, the suggested stretch is Fitzhugh Road, beginning off Highway 290 between Oak Hill and Dripping Springs, which then intersects one of the area’s secret treasures: Yeager Creek Road.
Along the way, there is Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza, featuring wood-fired ovens, and located conveniently next to the Jester King Brewery. Further down the road is the spectacular Pedernales Falls Park, always worth a stop.
