Austin Vehicle Housing – Petrol Lounge

February 28, 2015 Posted in  Driving Impressions | Comments: 0

If you are visiting this blog, then chances are you are a car or motorcycle enthusiast.  Appropriately then, you most likely own one or more classic or exotic vehicles.  If that be the case, then you’ve probably yearned for a space for that next classic on your bucket list.  Such was the case with the three principals of Austin’s newest facility, the Petrol Lounge, Jack McCauley, Randy Whitten, and Glen Nordell.

This trio of car enthusiasts wanted what we all want.. a nice place to house their treasured classics.  In their search for such a facility, they discovered that Austin is one of few metropolitan areas of its size which does not have a dedicated car storage operation.  From that discovery, and their own desires, was born the Petrol Lounge.

Unique to the Austin area, the Petrol Lounge is a climate controlled facility offering indoor, climate controlled “Premium Automotive Asset Management” for fellow classic car owners.  More than just a storage facility, the Lounge offers a “hang out” for enthusiasts, including a pool table and ample facilities for car-guy get-togethers.  Each stored vehicle is kept on a battery charge maintenance device, and cars are started, run, and exercised (around the parking lot) on a regular basis, so that when an owner is ready to drive his/her car, there can be assurance it will be ready to go.

On a recent weekend, Petrol Lounge hosted an open house for the local Austin Ferrari Club.  Not only was there a host of beautiful cars gracing the parking lot, but the vehicles and motorcycles being housed inside created a virtual museum of classic and exotic cars:
