Austin area BMW 3.0 CS goes up for sale

June 20, 2015 Posted in  Driving Impressions | Comments: 0

Our good friends at Petrolicious.com have created a new feature called “Market Finds” that focuses on special and unusual cars for sale.  Under the shameless commercialism department, it just so happens that your editor had recently decided to sell his 1972 BMW 3.0CS coupe.  To our surprise, Petrolicious has chosen that vehicle as its first “Market Find” feature.

This car made its way to our Austin garage some 7 years ago from Seattle, where it was acquired by its previous long time owner and restorer.  The car was picked up and driven straight to Austin without any issues whatsoever, and has functioned in true maintenance-free BMW fashion ever since!

To my eye, the CS coupe represents the pinnacle of BMW design since the prewar years.  It was essentially the 6 cylinder extension of the ever-popular 2002.  Light and nimble, superb handling, and of course that legendary butter-smooth BMW 6 cylinder engine!
