One of the more active car clubs in the Austin area is the Texas Hill Country Alfa Romeo Owners Club (www.texasalfas.com)
For several years I’ve been attending the breafast get-together, held regularly on the first Saturday of each month 8:30-10:30, at Mozart’s on the Lake, Lake Austin Blvd.
One of the things I like about this club is its informality. There are no ‘official’ meetings… no reading the minutes from the last meeting, no treasurer’s report (perhaps because there are NO dues required for this club).
The biggest attraction is the inclusivity of the members. Any one with an interest in cars (or not) will find themselves enthusiastically accepted by the ‘regulars’, even if not an Alfa Romeo owner (such as myself, not a current Alfa owner)
If you want to see vintage Alfas in the flesh, this is the place to show up, as a wide of assortment of beautiful Alfas, as well as any number of other classic, non-Alfa cars, can be expected in the parking lot.
And, of course, there is plenty of car-guy talk to be had, along with many experts on all things mechanical, including a number of working or retired master technicians well versed in Alfa-speak.
